Re:Dada exhibition opening and performances

  • swissnex San Francisco Pier 17, Suite 800 San Francisco, CA 94111 (map)
Celebrate the opening of the Re:Dada exhibition and the Dada World Fair with an evening of remixed Cabaret Voltaire and Dada performances, artists, and artworks.

The Dada movement was born 100 years ago at the Cabaret Voltaire in Zurich. To celebrate these pioneers of disruption, swissnex San Francisco collaborates with Dock18 in Zurich to present Re:Dada.

Dada invented the tactics of remix, collage, sharing and deconstructing works. This radical democratization of art still drives internet, DIY, open source and remix culture. By transforming Dada art works through the lens of 21st century technology and concerns, Re:Dada fosters an exchange between Swiss and US artists.

Performances and participatory events will take place throughout the evening, amongst Swiss artists Adolph Gurkenhofer, W3rkh0f Media Arts, and Claude Winterberg. An artist trading card session will take place throughout the evening. Daniel Boos will moderate a discussion with art critic Juri Steiner and art historian John J. Heartfield on Dada today.

This event is part of the city-wide Dada World Fair.
